Gain control of your money
Not sure if you can save money everyday. You may already be saving money in little ways and don't even realize it. Many of us are looking for the cheapest gas prices today and committing to not paying a penny more than we have to. You may have a movie rental membership that saves money on movie rentals. Renting a movie, instead of going out to the movies, is a savings in itself! With a few simple steps, you can gain control of your money and save even more.
Be aware of spending. A crucial step to saving is spending awareness. The individual who knows what he spends saves more. Know what you spend to know how to save. Track your spending transactions daily for a specific period of time. Keep a record of spending for that period of time. Write all money transactions down whether they are cash, credit, or check. This is an enlightening step to the beginning of a great relationship between you and your money. Know where your money goes.
Analyze spending. Evaluate your transactions and determine the necessity of each one. Ask yourself if the expense was necessary or unnecessary. If an expense is necessary, ask yourself how you can reduce costs on that expense. Eliminate unnecessary spending altogether and reduce necessary spending as possible.
Plan spending. Once you know what you spend your money on, plan spending to see savings. Planning is an important step in almost any project. Why should money management be any different. In fact, it's the most important project in your life. Manage spending by planning for current and future financial needs and goals. You'll find the rewards in your savings.
Use money saving strategies. Get the most for your money and save more. Rebates, coupons, discounts, clearance sales, thrift stores, yard sales, moving sales, recycling, and freebies are just a few of the ways you can save on purchases. You can even save on dining out and family entertainment by taking advantage of discount nights, family night, and restaurant or movie coupons. Never spend more than you have to on anything you do or buy and you can't help but save.
Make changes in lifestyle. Sometimes, just changing the way you do things will save you money. Or, not doing them at all. This will come naturally when you evaluate and analyze spending. Determine if you can eliminate some spending by doing things differently or not at all. It may be a challenge at first. But, you'll get used to new ways quickly when you see the financial rewards. Nothing like a little extra money to make things worth while. Saving is addictive. You'll soon find yourself looking for more ways to save everyday.
Let's try a little experiment to help you get started. For one week, complete a savings challenge each day to sharpen your savings skills. Each day, Monday through Sunday is dedicated to saving in a different way or on a different expense. Let's see how much money you can save in just one week! But first, you must learn spending awareness.
