Excel has been one of my greatest tools for planning my payments.
I only use 3 columns.
First column lists my payments to be paid.
Second Column lists how much to pay.
Third column shows how much is left.
I use a simple formula to show how much of my money is remaining after each payment. For those not familiar with excel, here's an example of how I would format a cell: I would type: =C1-B2. It will show the number in C1 minus the number in B2. Then I would copy that formula to each cell that needs to show a remaining amount after each bill.
This has helped me keep a perfect payment record with all my creditors. |

Doesn't all that manual entry get tiring? I know when I have tried systems like quicken or even using an excell spreadsheet I always had a hard time keeping up to date, especially when it came to smaller cash transactions.
Any recommendations for getting around those challenges? |

| I've only been using it to help me manage which BILLS to pay WHEN. I have not used excel for smaller transactions. I track those online with my bank's online banking services. Other than that, I really don't use a "budget" to discipline how MUCH money is going to certain areas of my spending life. |
